Manatees

The East Indian manatee is one of the more unique animals in this world. Almost like a mix between cows and dolphins, they are actually most closely related to elephants. In 2018, a census counted a little more that 6000 manatees in Florida. In 2021, nearly 1200 of these manatees died. The way to save these animals is through protection of their habitat which can easily be accomplished through reducing the use of fertilizers, increasing marine protected areas, and enforcing boat speed laws through manatee habitat.
